  • 2.25" to 3" reducer/expander pipe?

The Pacesetter 3.4 headers use 2.25" collectors and the Y-pipe ends in a 2.25" outlet. I have on the way a 3" cat and 3" cat-back. Obviously I need some way to get from 2.25" to 3" between the headers and cat.

    I found some Hooker reducer/expanders part no. HOK-11030 for 2.125" to 3" or HOK-11040 for 2.5" to 3" but no 2.25" to 3" !!! :(

Is this something any auto parts store should carry? I tried searching Napa, Autozone and Advance online but found absolutely nothing for reducer or expander other than the tool. Speaking of the tool, anyone think it would be advisable/possible to use an expansion tool on the end of the header collector outlet to enlarge it?

Only other thing I can think of is to "step" the pipe from 2.25" to 3" by simply using short lengths of 2.5" and 2.75" pipe but I don't know if this is going to disrupt the flow (because of not being a smooth transition) where it is hurting performance?

Damn Pacesetter, the 3.8 headers they make have a 3" outlet on the Y-pipe!

are you going to install them yourself? if not talk to the shop you are going to and ask if they can fabricate you something..
hit up some muffler shops if you are doing it yourself/

Yes I'll be installing everything myself with the help of a neighbor with a welder. Dumb me I didn't realize the size difference until just yesterday, so I haven't asked around locally yet.

If you are retaining the catalytic convertor, an exhaust shop can EASILY stretch/flare a peice of pipe to those specs. They did mine in like a minute and it fit great! If you take it to them, and are indeed retainging the cat, they could probably weld it up and all in under 20 minutes pretty cheap!

PS...I could not find the adapters from 3" to 2.25" or vise versa around here, but I saw in catalogs that it has been made before. Good luck.

Thanks, I think I will start checking local exhaust shops. Yes, I've got a 3" Carsound cat and 3" Magnaflow cat-back to go on along with the Pacesetter headers. I could have gotten the 2.5" cat/cat-back but this is stock diameter and I wanted to go larger for the SSMS top end going in. This whole project is being forced upon me by the state of Pennsylvania, who is enacting emissions testing in my county starting in December. Woohoo.
