  • EGR Help

Ok got the pacesetters installed, but i have one problem before i can really drive the car. The EGR tube that goes into the driver sides manifold has a nipple thing on the end of it and it is too long to put into the new manifold.

Should i hack the nipple and seal it with something?

If so what should i seal it with?

If not should i block off the EGR? And if i blocked off the EGR than do i need to block off the tube that runs into the manifold aswell? Is there a cheap way to block off the EGR without purchasing a block off kit from ZZP or whoever sells it?

The reason i ask is because right now i cant get it to seal up and i tried tightening it to the max, but there is still area for a leak. Thanks for all your help in advance.

I had the EGR opening on the header welded closed. Then used a blockoff plate on the intake, an EGR sim, and removed the whole thing. Now I've got a bunch more room where the valve was. ;)

does anyone have a link to a how to or simply know in there heads how to make a block off plate because i need something to refer to otherwise i dont know where to start with materials and all that.

As for welding i dont have enough cash for that and most of the shops are closed now, but i want to get rid of some of the leak so i can drive my car.

I was just going to trace the base of the connector that is there onto some 3/16 or 1/4 in aluminum and cut it out drill it and install. Doing mine this weekend.

what are you going to seal it with? Is a gasket needed?

i got a black off plate but it was some cheap rectangle piece of aluminum. not worth the money. just get a piece of aluminum at Lowe's or where ever, drill it, and bolt it down. i didnt use a gasket and it is still good. i also didnt bother with a block off plate at the manifold and didnt bother obviously with a sim. all good here
