  • ACK!!! FART PIPE!!!

    Well I plan on running my old as CAT no I-pipe as usual. Well my CAt been coming loose, so I look at it, the interior is crumbling apart jsut by jiggling it. Its done, now I cannot run straight off the exhaust manifolds, the whole no backpressure thing KILLS my power. So on my way to the track I am trying ot devise a way I can fix my backpressure problem and do it cheap and quickly. I figured 2 options

    1st I could run a 2.5in.-->2.25in--->2in redudcer off my exhasut manifolds, causing backpressure. I was not sure if this would work.

    2nd I thought cheap crap muffler and run it directly off my Y pipe. I walk in and find a thrusher 2.5in. muffler for $16.99 I buy a 1/2 in. wrench for $0.75, and a clamp for $0.99. I hook it up in the parking lot, reset PCM and run some WOT practice runs all the way down to the track, Backpressure problem solved, has more backpressure then I would want, but better then before(actually the midrange is wonderful, I think I am using this setup for AutoX)

    But problem is turned my mean sounding open piped, semi-mean sounding with a flowmaster car inot a Fartpipe. Well not that bad, actually it sounds much like a Supra with exhasut, a very very deep sound, but more like an import motor and less ike a v8.

    managed a 15.9, not a best but better then I expected, especially with teh extremelyty hot and humid weather.

    maybe if I run the car for a bit the muffler will break in and sound better. i had the same problem with my flowmaster.

      ~116k, I think its the second CAT can't remember. Whatever it is, I could gut it jsut by shaking it, chunks of the filter element come out
