Ok i tried to rig up my own EGR Block off plate with no success. Everytime i bolt it down and try and seal it up, the seal blows. The ticking sound immediatley returns and the car runs like ****.

Now in the process of the retightening the "Block off plate" i broke the tube that connects to the exhaust manifold. Now the car runs horribly. No power, sounds like ****, and runs even worse.

Now my question is should i replace the EGR valve with that of a 1999 EGR valve because these headers were labeled as 95 - 99. So if i have a 1999 EGR than it will hook up to the exhaust manifold and maybe fix my problem?

All replies and help is appreciated since i havent been able to really drive my car with no problems to see any difference in performance/sound with the new headers.

my figure would be that you can get the egr valve of that of a 98 to 2002 fbody.
i believe those years is when they introduced the v6 f-body to tubular manifolds.
so i dont think you would have any issues.
I will take on all comers...or come on all takers!!! Whichever you prefer.

I'm not sure what your problem is. Where is this seal blowing? On the intake manifold or header? If it's on the intake manifold, you need some rtv on the plate to seal it.

If you're trying to remove the EGR, why do you want to buy a new one? Just have it welded closed on the header and forget about it.

Tubular manifolds came in 2000. EGR stuff is compatible for 95-99 and 2000-2002. 98 EGR will not work on an 00 (assuming stock stuff). The valve itself has a different part number, but I don't know why.

The seal where i have the block off plate bolted to the header/manifold.

What should i try and seal it with and where can i buy it?

The reason i was asking if the EGR valves are interchangable is because if i couldnt get the plate to seal up than i was going to swap in an older EGR. The headers are listed 95 - 99 and i believe some of the reasons may be because the tube from the 2001 EGR valve doesnt fit inside the header for it to work properly.

I atleast found out why my car was running horribly. I was running 5 cylinders because one of the connections to the spark plug on the passenger side in the middle was missing the connection. It was just hanging there, but upon further inspection i found that there was no metal casing around it. I called the shop and asked what happened and he said that the metal casing wouldnt fit because of the new headers. Maybe another reason why its listed 95 - 99.
