Ok people,
I know that you really probably dont want to answer this but for the sake of god I need some opinions.
I have searched for everything from 3" to three inch countless hours reading thread after thread and cant find any real reviews from the people who own them, its rather irritating.
But all I want to know is for you people running a 3" cat all the way to the mufflers, Or even all the way out, what are your honest opinions, torque loss vs. power gain, sound, installation, if you had it to do over again what would you do.
I wasnt really planning on any power adders, mostly for performance and sound. I have a 2000 camaro 3.8L
Thanks, mass participation encouraged Shane

do it. i netted almost 2MPH in the quarter mile. yes, there's is some loss in the LOWER RPM range, but it comes all back in the UPPER RPM. when my car hits 3k RPM, its like a whole new car. i'd definately recommend it to anyone. plus, just for anything, it sounds better.

Loose a little low end, but above about 2500, it really picks up and goes! Definetly worth it.

ok..

since i JUST got it all done today..

i'll let you know how i feel.

i definately felt an SOTP improvement.. BIG TIME!!

and that is WITH a missfire.

it pulls so much harder than it did with stock exhaust.

and it soudns incredible.. everything i have is in my sig.

bottom end is barely lost.

A **** LOAD is made up from the 2.5k all to 6k rpm range. so it definately makes up for that barely 1 hp lost in the low end.

maybe because i got headers as well.. who knows?

ooh.. to add to the sig.

i got a 3 inch inlet flowmaster 80 series muffler, with mandrel bent tail pipes. and 3.5inch slash cut tips.

it soudns awesome. im getting a lot of compliments..and this is BEFORE everythign burns in

also, to add in.. look at it this way...

For the same price..why not go all out with it. you will definately not regret it if you decide to go nitrous, supercharger, or turbocharger.

even natrually aspirated.. you wont regret it

Thats it fellas,
Thats what I needed. Every post brought a big fat smile to my face.
98camaro3.8 I have a quick question, in your sig it says "dynomax super turbo" I was just wondering what size the inlet is on your muffler and how you adapted the I-pipe to it, or if you went from 3" I-pipe to stock over axel pipes into the muffler. I was planning on using a 3" in/out catco-->SLP 3" S-pipe-->summit 3" I-pipe-->summit 3" over axel pipe-->super turbo but all I could find was 2.5 in/dual 2.5 out, then I was just planning on using 2.5" piping to the tips. Let me know what you guys think. Also thanks alot for the posts and keep em coming :D :D :D

snatch, I also have a 2.5" in/out muffler, but the 3" I pipe just fit right over. ;)

I've got an in-car video from the track. If you want to hear what it sounds like, AIM or email me.

i was afraid of a bottleneck for some reason..

thats why i went with 3inch inlet on my muffler..

but if people say its no problem.. then it wont be.

i forgot who said it.. but i think they said that going from 3 inch piping all the way, to a 2.5inch muffler wont hurt at all, because by then the exhaust gasses are cooler and it wont affect it as much.. ??

Sounds pretty good. I like the flowmaster better down low, but up high the Dynomax is awesome!

I like mine a lot as well.
I still have some raspiness up top so I plan on replacing the cat with a resonator this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

True, the exhaust gasses have cooled down quite a bit therefore they don't have the same velocity. 3" to the muffler won't cause a bottle neck.
