I just replaced my cat with a glass pack and I'm not sure if I like it yet. I'm running 3" all the way back from the y-pipe. It sounds great at idle, eliminated most popping and rasp but I can hear a lot more noise. Its hard to explain but it sounds like rushing air where my cat used to be. I can't hear the exhaust over the rushing air and I'm not sure whether is sounds like rice or not.

I'm thinking of flipping the glass pack around and seeing it it changes the sound. Right now it is directed so that the exhuast flows INTO the cups and not over.

I might try the dynomax bullet muffler but I found the perfect size glasspack at carlisle for $20.

I heard 3 inch pipes all the way back on v6's is too much. Is this true? where does the 3 inch pipe start , from the header? from where the cat used to be? i have a horrible 4 banger rasp only when i get on it or when i shift, i hear a back fire of rasp. Would the bigger pipes stop the rasp? it is horrible, but i love the gain. Someone said go SLP mufflers? Help??? Thanks

The 3" loss is a myth. I gained a lot when I went to 3" pipes from the Y-Pipe back. I did lose a little low end torque but I gained a ton high end. I pulls like crazy over 3k. My system does have some rasp but overall it sounds very nice for a v6. The resonator got rid of the rasp and is installed right where the cat used to be. The problems I saw was stated in my last post. Overall I give SLP

The backpressurething is a myth as well, take magnus for instance he ran open y pipe and gained .2 and 2 mph... That is what you call barely any backpressure.
