I GOT LONGTUBES ON MY 3.8 POSSIBLE PROBLEM MAKING Y PIPE PICS INSIDE
Whoop de doo about equal length.
One has a HUGE 90 degree bend in it.
Sure equal length is good but a frigin 90 degree bend SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!
As for 11secv6, right, sure!!
You might want to have a shop look at them, see what they can do for you, worst case scenario buy rk's again if heating, welding and cutting those do not work

Aren't equal length headers better for peak numbers(assuming they are the correct length), while unequal length will give a smaller gain over a wider RPM range?
Here are a couple of pictures of the y-pipe configuration I was talking about:
These aren't of a stock y-pipe, but you get the idea. The stock y-pipe has an oval shaped driver's side pipe, but it flows just as well as the circular passenger side. Using something like that over a custom circular y-pipe would help clearance, but would probably take more work to get your headers to mate with it properly.

that's what i was thinking, too. it'll run in parallel with and under the passenger-side.

if i had a 90* bend in my y pipe would the air be restricted at all? will i get the max gains i could get out of the longtubes if i use a 90* bend as opposed to just a regular style y pipe, like as if i heat the header up and bend it so its more straight?

The tubes are bolted to the block flange not welded, yes i know any "idiot" can put headers on i also realize i may have problems with them fitting, i just put up this post to get some valuble info from people about the problem im at now, see i like 2 take problems one step at a time, i didnt want to deal with 46 problems at once, i will be putting the motor in this week and i will see how much clearance i have, i just wanted some suggestions on the drivers side header because it looks like its going to be real restrictive, on a side note i do know how to weld and i wouldnt say any person can lay down a good weld, no welding isnt the hardest thing in the world but without some kind of training or classes a person isnt just going to start welding and put down a weld that will actually hold, i appreciate your reply

That would explain why you have posts on knock retard, airbag and SES light, header fitment, and injector size in a week and a half ;) J/K

I believe Magnus was stating the it's easy to cut a flange, weld the primaries to it, and bolt it to the block. He wasn't stating that the primaries were welded to the block itself. Could be wrong though
Putting the motor in the car is the only accurate way to verify clearance and make plans for the y-pipe. I didn't even see the trans bolted up in the pictures to see how much room you have there either. People have given you some good suggestions to work with, but they don't do much good until you get the motor in the car and can actually take some measurements. Good luck!
