Earlier this month I decided that it was time... I bought the 3" American Thunder from Summit Racing (plug for them). Well I travel A LOT, so I would check in with the leasing office when I was back in town to see if my exhaust had arrived. I went TWO (2) times, and was told the same thing "no big packages for you, sorry". I was getting really mad at Summit. So today I check their website, and discover that the exhaust was delivered on the 11th (only 5 days after ordered - damn fast shipping). Armed with this knowledge I go back to the leasing office. Aster 5 minutes of them searching, it took me saying that it was a BIG package for them to find it (nevermind the fact that I already mentioned that it weighed about 54lbs, or that it was a car exhaust). The office is only a max of 600 square feet...
Anyway, I go to the shop, they talk me into getting a 3" Magnaflow cat converter (took a lot of convincing ;) )which was a little weird as my car just turned 5 years old and only has 45k on it, but I'm not complaining. Time moves on...
They get finished and, as I'm intently reading a paper from last Wednesday while in their wating area, I hear a rumbling noise in the parking lot. I turn but don't see anything. Then I notice the mech walking away from a car... my car! That was my car! Flowmaster might have a bad name with some people, but compared to stock, they are in my book. It did lose the rumble at WOT around 4k, but down low it's nice.
I do have one question though: Is there normally a "burn in" smell for a new cat/exhaust?
