Anyone have any input on a Hooker Cat-Back system? I think that the model number is 16811. Actually, here is the link:

Get a FLOWMASTER 80 SERIES!!! I figured out how to get mine louder and deeper, now it sounds better than dynomax and those others, have had people coming up to me asking how I got my Z28 roaring. Read my topic about flowmaster. Damn, decisions decisions. Thanks for all the replies. This is definately the hardest decision I've made in awhile. ;)
Price-wise, how much is the Spintech going for. I want to see how all the prices compare. The dual outlet cat from Flow is $350..B&B's is $650..how much is Edelbrock and Spintech's cost?

The 80 series is the quietest and the 40 series is the loudest. Yours may sound good but you have a V8. This will ALWAYS be a hot topic. Epic, since you have your intake modded, that's gonna make a BIG help to your exhaust sound when driving. I had to put my old stock lid on a few weeks ago because I had to take it to the dealer. I didn't wanna hear any excuses from the dealer trying to void my warranty. When they where done, he test drove it, and my exhaust sounded like crap. This was with my dynomax. Right now I have a 2.5" Flowmaster 40 series. It sounded fine on the car before I put the headers and high flow cat on. Right now I'm planning on switching to a Dynomax Superturbo dual 2.5" out.-James<br /><br />\'96 3.8L A4 Camaro (SOLD)

I misunderstood the V8 deal. In those graphs I guess it shows that the 80 series sounds louder, theres no numbers but the bar goes higher. The 40 series in that picture shown is a single in single out, I don't have a single out, I have a dual out. I have heard the 80 series and it sounds ricey and raspy even on V8's such as at their website. www.flowmastermufflers.com/web10/SePerfMuff9.html
The 40 series is smaller than the 80 series which means that the 40 will be louder. From what I know they are both 2 chamber mufflers. Also I asked an exhaust shop just to make sure and they said that the 40 series is louder. I have known these guys for a while, they have been in the business for a long time and they pretty much only sell Flowmasters. There is a Delta Flow 40 series which I think is quieter.

If a muffler has 3 chambers it is going to be quieter than a muffler with 2 chambers. If a muffler has less chambers there is less to slow the flow and deaden the sound. I reiderate that the 40 series is a smaller muffler as well.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the the 40 Series ONLY COMES SINGLE-OUTLET. :D Similarly, the 80 Series ONLY COMES DUAL-OUTLET. They're essentially the same muffler, except one has a second outlet on it.
EDIT: Oops, my faux paux- It seems that Flowmaster does now have 2 dual-outlet 40 Series models. However, if you look at the specs, neither one is meant for crossflow position required by our cars.
