• Your Opinion Please

I just recently bought my bird and want to start working on the exhaust and i dont know much about it. I was told that putting headers on would be pointless without other performance parts. Should I just put flowmaster system on it for now.

Doing headers with a catback is not pointless, what year is your bird? But yeah, do catback first. 3" will do

It is not pointless. If you have the money i would go ahead and get the headers if not just get the catback in a 3" size. that is my take on the whole thing and now i will go back to my hole.

I wouldn't buy the headers first but, like everyone said, pretty much any 3'' setup.

(It's a 99' firbird.) I am looking more for performance but i figured doing a catback with 3" diameter pipes would make it sound better too. I have read some posts from people who said that after like 2500 rpms it sounded bad. So as long as i can avoid that, its cool with me. btw- By just doing catback for now, how much hp can i expect to gain? ~Thanks for the help

practically all V6es sound terrible higher up the tachometer.

you might pick up 8-10 hp with a full exhaust, including headers. try to do both exhaust and intake at the same time... it'll cost more but it will be worth it, and it'll set you up with a full weekend of work :D

If you decided to go with a full exhaust, I've heard alot of good things about hooker headers. Good quality and decently priced. That will be what I put on mine soon.

The "best sound" is different for each person, although I bet yours sounds pretty good. I liked my flowmaster but, I loved my cutout, I never closed it.

Kind shy on back pressure though wasnt it? I like my flowmaster.

I've heard the borla XR-1 is a bad sounding muffler. When I get some true duals I think I'll try the XR1 bullet mufflers.
