Kind shy on back pressure though wasnt it?
Hopefully, why the hell would you want backpressure?

Decreasing back pressure always results in increased horsepower, simple as that.

well, now that we are really off topic....Hey silverbirdseven, do NOT get a Flowmaster, it doesnt flow well and sounds like balls without any supporting mods. i would reccommend TSP Rumbler if you want balls to the wall performance and loud A$$ exhaust, or the magnaflo, which sounds better than the flo, and flows better than the flo But truthfully, any aftermarket cat-back will be a huge improvement from stock.

I stand corrected, in utter shock. I'm amazed they don't have them for us 3.8 guys. Well anyways I didn't say they made them for us, just that I'd heard good things.

If you have tubular manifolds on that 99...(can't remember off hand when they start...maybe 99 or 2000?) I would definatly recommend aftermarket catback first...then if you feel you want more...get headers.

Yes, I am a big fan of non melting spark plug wires and having the ability to change plugs like a normal car. I luvs them factory tubes.

If you go with headers there are other things to consider...like getting them on...and emissions. Same goes for a full 3" conversion...pretty big chance that you will no longer pass OBD2 emissions test if your state checks that way.

The fatter the pipes the louder the car.

catbacks made for your model year and v6 engine will be 2.5" and start from after the cat and s pipe...where the S pipe is band clamped to the mid pipe. These systems will still improve sound...if you like a performance exhaust tone...and yield some performance gains as well.

If you decide to go with 3" all the way...consider that a 'conversion' and we can talk you trough it. (example...I have magnaflow LT1 V8 catback...1993-97 V8 fbody. It comes with a 3" s pipe because back then the cat was bolted to the s pipe...newer cars are welded. You will also need new CAT...3"in and 3" out to mate up with a 3 inch S pipe.

See, I told you we could talk you through it.

The tubular manifolds don't start till 2000, hence the logs on my '99. I have the LoudMouth with stock everything else, loud as ****, kinda raspy but I'm getting a 3 in/out cat that will hopefully quiet down the exaust. I reccomend the loudmouth.

Um, am I the only one here who has an exhaust that doesn't rasp or anything? If you have the money (which it looks like you do because you're looking at headers), get the Borla complete dual catback system. I also hear GMMG is pretty good as well. Along with that, get a High Flow Cat, and then, since you have a stock car, a Cold Air Intake setup, along with a whisper lid. Then add on your headers.

I also have borla and it does not rasp up the high rpms plus its the best sounding exhaust in my opinion.
