Anything in the v6's sound like crap past 3k without a full exhaust and maybe more. The stock cat is 3'' why would you want to keep the bottle neck? Your exhaust is only as good as its smallest point.

3'' sounds better to. 3'' Hands down. </font>
Damn you firefighter! I've heard a 6 with 2.5" flow, and it sounded mean all throughout the RPM range. Either way, I would go 3, they still sound good, and is much worth it. .25" is hardly worth paying money for IMO.

it is simple 3" sounds like crap. 2.5" sounds good. performancce wise I doubt that there is a difference between the two. the most restrictive part of an engine is the valves so untill you do something to those you wont see any real gains in power. but if you really want all out performance go with true duals that will sound even worse than 3" most of the people who put down 2.5" dont have it. get 2.5" with a cutout you will thank yourself. but if I were to do it all over again I would spend the money on headers and a cutout and run the stock exhaust from there.

If you're not going 3" then don't bother with piping, I got the 80 series and left the stock pipe. For a muffler alone I'm very happy with the performance and the sound, but a 3" pipe would have been better. If it's a money issue then leave the stock pipe and wait till you can do a 3" pipe.

2.75" that will solve this arguement ;) thats what i got and i like it.. not that i know comparison between 2.5" or 3" but i was sick of everyone giving reasons for one being to big and one being to small.. now with 2.75" what can they say?

This 3" LT1 magnaflow sounds real good...BEEFY to say the least. The bullit muffler DOES reduce rasp to pretty much nothing.

Older v8 catbacks such as the magnaflow LT1 v8 (1993-97) come with the s pipe. Later years use welded cat so they don't come with the s pipe...those kits need a conversion kit...SLP has it I think.
i don't now what you're talkign about, I have the Magnaflow 3" cat and LT1 catback (3"), usied the same sensors that I had on before, and I have had 0 SES lights. I had to pay alittle extra on instalation to get a bung welded in for the sensor, the sensor switched over, and an extension welded onto the cat (because it's shorter than stock), but all that plus catback installation came to $125.

i got a carsound cat. had the original sensor installed with a bung and it still threw the code.

these cars are so picky about throwing the code, some do, some dont. you cant garuntee(sp?) it either way! the 98+ seem to be more of a problem than anything.
