• Exhaust Moderator needs help!

So my exhaust setup right now is a Flowmaster 80 series muffler thats like 5 years old with some slash cut tips that look like they belong on a Tahoe. That's it, no high flow cat, no cool 3'' piping, no cat-back system, just a muffler and tips. Yes, I know I am the exhaust moderator, and yes, I know that is ironic. But now that we're past that, I finally want to change things up. Here's a few questions I have:

    1. I've been wanting to buy the Borla 3'' adjustable system for our cars for a loooooong time. I know what it costs, so you don't have to tell me it's expensive, but assuming price was no object, how many of you would pick this exhaust? and how many that have it, like it?

    2. I have been reading great things about the loudmouth system with a Borla XR1 in place of the resonator. I have personally heard this on an LS1 and thought it sounded pretty mean. But my car is an LSnone like most of us and would again like owner's opinions on this setup for the v6.

    3. And last, if there's something out there that's better than the Borla system I mentioned in question 1, what is it? Please remember I would like 3'' piping for my setup and am sick of the Flowmaster drone, even though the sound is hard to beat for the price.

    Thanks guys

if not borla, then B&B triflow.

one system I would like to hear on a 6 though, is GMMG ;)
I guess I\'d have answer your question with another question.

How many Abidiginals do you see in modeling??????

headers, 3inch magnaflow cat, Loudmouth
99 Midnight Blue Firebird
3.8L A4

gotta look towards the old SLP two-on-the-left setup. it's still the best flowing exhaust on the market for an f-body (which is why mufflex copies it for all their exhausts) and also one of the sharpest-looking.

the borla looks really good too- but in my mind you need a body kit and wheels so it won't overpower the rest of the car. there was a kid on here from oregon who had a red '98 (with body kit and Z06es) and the borla system and it looked smokin'.

the loudmouth system with an XR-1 does sound awesome, but on an LS1. one day just out of curiosity we took that setup off of a friend's car and put it on mine and it sounded awful. i'd rather have the flowmaster than that system.

the LM with headers sounds pretty mean. I've heard a few cars with that setup and it sounds rather beastly, but it is incredibly loud.

If you're going the LM route, why not also look into the TSP rumbler? A lot of people have been singing it's praises a lot, same type of setup as LM, but with the resonator already in place.

              I probably wouldn't.

Let me get this straight. You are tired of the Flowmaster drone, and yet you are considering replacing it with less muffler?

I'm somewhat in the same boat as you. I am sick of drone. I have not decided what I will do. I think you would be happier with Borla as opposed to any variation of the Loud/Dyno/Borla-mouth since it is adjustable. For about the same price as a Borla, you could get a B&B Triflow... but I have no idea how they would sound on a V6. I'm thinking I will go a much cheaper route and possibly switch to a Hooker muffler. Otherwise I may go back to an extra resonator/bullet muffler in the i-pipe.

I have the borla, on my 98, and I love it. I wouldn't ever switch over to anything else. Just my opinion. Easy install too.

in a perfect world someone would post a good sound clip of a 3.4 with pacesetter headers and a Borla 3" catback!

I think Borla is worth the money, compare to rest that i heard, the only other one i liked was B&B, Corsa
