• New custom intake

well i finally got sick of my old intake that was beaten to death, and so i gathered up all of the pipes and tubes i had laying around my garage and i started putting things together to form a intake tube, and this is what i came up with, a 4''to 3'' rubber tube connector, a 3'' intake tube from autozone and thats mounted inside the stock rubber connector on the stock airbox that has been clipped of all fins, and then i cleared out all of the plastic under the intake box so i have sorta a ram air effect. I sure can tell a big diffrence in throttle response and maybe a couple more horses while breakin the tires loose and the construction workers stare as they hear my car drive by with the new intake that makes the camaro sound like its got a supercharger, it really makes a loud whining noise when u punch the gas

You know you can edit your posts, right?

Lol, definetly not the most efficient for the airflow.

like blldogg said, that thing will flow freely, but not fast like you want it to. you want your air to have a vacuum effect. once you suck in air you need the other air to come in with it without restriction. the air deflects and the incoming air and isnt as efficient as a smooth tube. otherwise everyone would go that route.
you may feel a difference, but you could be doing at least a little better.

doesnt look too bad though.

ah, the pros and cons of the angled throttle body.

there should be info here (search) about making an angled smooth air bellows to link up that stock airbox to the angled throttle body.

Or, save some of that tubing for your supercharger. ;)

It does look like you mean business though.

yah i hate the angled throttled body, it sucks so much, thats why it has taken me so long to make my own intake, and thats why the tubing is all looping around. But i must say, i just love the sound of the air flowing threw it with the windows down, it sounds so much cooler.

I cant put my stock piping back on because it has holes all in it, dont ask why, thats the reason why i made a intake. Figured it cant be good to drive around with holes in my intake tubing, so what the heck my own intake couldnt be any worse

I have a 98 and I was able to make a tube going straight from the (stock) airbox to the throttle body. Did it with some dryer vent material.

I pity you 98 drivers. I really, really do. GM must have had a boatload of leftover 97 throttle bodies and just figured, what the heck, we'll get it right on the 1999's.

That is the first time I've seen anyone use a looping intake. I agree with the guy above - you should do a smoother, direct in tubing.

On the other hand, you could patent that thing - "The Looper Lid."
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
