Will a takeoff of a SS Camaro be worth the 110 bucks the muffler shop is offering to install it for? Will it make a difference at all?

SLP used to sell an SS rear section (muffler and tips only) for 100 bucks, right off of SS Camaros. They advertised a 10-12 horsepower gain proven by dyno testing. I bought one 4 years ago and have had it on since. I noticed a definite difference in seat of the pants and about 10 rear wheel horsepower with a g-tech. I installed it myself with a pipe cutter and using stainless muffler clamps. It's an easy install.1999 Y87 Camaro
Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust

Think about it for a minute. I had the stock dual-tip exhaust for a 3.8L. The inlet was only 2" and both tail pipes were 2". The SS muffler has 2.75" inlet and dual 2.75" inlet . It is definitely less restictive because it adds horsepower to an LS1 from Z28 flavor to SS. Now the Z28 muffler wouldn't add too much, maybe 5 horses, but the SS does, I know it first hand.1999 Y87 Camaro
Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust

It sounds very good. At low RPM and idle it's very deep, sounds like a V-8. Driving around it's sounds very nice, and when you open it up it roars without the rice sound. The only time it sounds ricey is revving with no load...then it gets ugly. It's loud, but not nearly as loud as a Flowmaster, or other aftermarket mufflers. It's worth it.1999 Y87 Camaro
Whisper Lid, SLP SS Takeoff Exhaust
