Hey guys, I've got a 3.8 and everything is stock on it. I just put a flowmaster 80 series with dual exhaust. It sounds good at an idle, but if you get on it gets high pitched (ricey). Is this normal. If so, what can I do to get a more throaty sound.

from what i've read on this board, no matter what exhaust you put on your v6 it'll sound ricey at higher rpm'smcG
aim=endlive
97 firebird ~ wrecked

It will get better once you've had it on a while and let it burn in. My exhaust doesn't even have muffler (well technically it does :D ), and the sound still changed for the better after a few weeks. You'll be surprised how much it really does change.
As for 'throaty' sound... its never gonna sound like an 8 if thats what you mean, but getting larger pipes (3" cat-back for example) will deepen it a lot. Mine sounds incredible at idle and up to ~4200 rpms

First, get your intake modded. A whisper lid alone will deepen your exhaust when you get on it. If your funds are right, get the ram air kit also. A bigger I pipe and definitely a high flow cat will make it sound ALOT better also. And headers is your last option.99 Camaro Z28 A4
R.I.P. 00 Firebird 3.8
14.89 @ 90, 2.03 60\'

i did the muffler and then added the rest later. i enjoyed the sound, but im sure there was almost no hp difference. i still would do it the same way over given my financial restraints.
