I just switched from my stock v6 exhaust (with the one little bent pipe) to a stock exhaust off an ss.... not sure what year. anyways i got it for free from the corvette dealership i work at and so all i had to pay was $60 to put it on..... after about 3 days of driving it i notice that it sounds kinda ricey... i know that its meant for a V8 and is not gonna sound really loud... but i dont want it to sound like rice.... its kina like a mix between a low rumble and a whine... if you have any suggestions as to what i could do to make it sound better thatd be great.

Get a flowmaster, rumbler, dynomax or magnaflow.

Marc, the rumbler isn't a muffler, lol. I think he meant to change the muffler, so go with any one of those mufflers that marc has listed.

Borla sounds good but u will have to pay a little more for it compare to other mufflers.

Hey, do you have just the muffler as a mod or do you have any intake mods? From my understanding it will change the tone of the exhaust. I am currently talking to someone about a take off exhaust off of a ws6... time for quietness. LOL

You are correct, Casketcrewchick. I replaced my factory intake bellows with dryer vent and trimmed my stock airbox. The tone went down considerably and volume increased, and it sounds pretty mean for the stock exhaust.

I just recently swapped my magnaflow to the stock WS6 and was very surprised at how loud the exhaust still was, btw i also have 2.75" from the cat back, a HI-flow cat (unsure of brand, from meineke) and stock ws6 air box. Keep in mind the exhaust is a little more quiet but still much louder than the stock firebird single out exhaust.

i love my ws6 take off. All i changed out was the muffler and did the free ram air mod (i recomend against), and the bellow delete (i highly recomend).

so far all i have is just the muffler..... i got it for free so i figured i would do it, but as much as i want to do intake and other mods to my car, i dont know if i want to spend the money now or wait till i can get my v8. i was thinking about getting a nitrous kit but thats the only thing cause i want to be able to transfer it into my next car.
