Is anyone here, thats still naturally aspirated, running a full 3" exhaust on their car? I'm just curious as to how well it runs. This month I am buying a set of pacesetter headers and my intake is on a truck right now headed my way so my engine can inhale better but I just want to know if anyone is running full 3" yet and if so how well it performs.

i am.... it is good? in conjunction with the intake and headers it should be an ok gain....when my car was stock... the exhaust didnt seem to do much at all if anything when i first put it on.... but the more i mod my car the more exhaust seems to be important... 3in is fine but you dont so much need it with our motors 2.5 will do just fine....but 3 in will be deeper and I really dont think it hurts especially if you spray or get forced induction... I run NA and have 3in for the sound and I know air is flowing decent through the pipe so i put a quiet muffler on there and can ride around flowing alright and quiet then i open up my cutout and its good to go.... some say we dont flow enough to use 3in and no one should use it NA.... i say do what you want its really not a hardcore drag car... especially if you are running 18's in the back it sounds a little deeper and better so i say go for it... Sorry for the rambling.. Hope this helped,

I run a full 3" system, with headers and the cat removed, and I love it!!! I started out with a 2.5" system and noticed a difference and noticed more improvement with 3" system.Ben

1995 White/Black 3.4L
As far away from stock as possible
My Site!!!
RedLineV6
Rebuild and 3.4 T70 Turbo is complete
Details to come....

Well right now I have stock from the cat forward and from the cat back is 3" stainless steel Loudmouth pipes with a Dynomax Race Bullet inplace of stock SLP resonator and it sounds MEAN. Ima get a high flow cat and PaceSetters and was just wondering if I should keep 3" inbetween the two or do 2 1/2" from the headers to the cat or what.. Im thinking I might just do 2 1/2" to the cat...Or 2 3/4"...Mustangs.. Come to the darkside...

The dark side is the path to the shadow of greed. =D

I'm also running a full 3in setup and love it, i hear things about back pressure coming up - what are the benefits of it? I haven't read anything saying is was a good thing to have for performance. Everything I've read says to fully reduce all backpressure and that the "some back pressure is good" arguement is untrue. Is this a myth or is there some substance?
