  • larger tb on a 3.4

I am planning to go FI this winter and am looking at the prep mods to do so. I know a larger tb is a must and I found this . I was wondering what they ment by
These Throttle Bodies will only fit 3.4L V6 with modified upper intake manifold
    Modified how?

Also I just started looking around and thats the only one I have found. What about V8 take off's? If you know of other tb's for a 3.4 please let me know. Thanks

Edit: its under induction. Hit the tb link at the top of the page and thats the one I am looking at.

The modified V6 intake manifold is a stock 3.4L V6 manifold that is basically cut across the front and then a box is fabricated for the manifold to hold the LT1 style throttle body. There are not too many of these manifolds out there. NuTek used to make them but they have stopped now. Some people are fabricating their own work, but it can get pricey.

I'll give you details on what needs done. I'm waiting for my manifold to be finished port/polished then its off to get modified. I'm sure of what sensor and stuff I will need to switch though (TPS/IAC), any help on that Josh??

TPS and IAC will be the same. No need for modification there. The one thing that does also have to be changed is the LT1 throttle cable. Simple fix.

I was also wondering about the modified intake to fit the LT1 throttle body. I have seen some pictures on how it was done, but obviously you would need a welder, and that is something I dont have. Viper98885, how much more power or throttle response did you recieve out of this modification. I am interested in it, because of the throttle response it may give. And obviously some increased breathing. I guess I should hold of on the cold air intake since this might occur. Thanks,

You get quite a bit more power out of this manifold. If you have heads and cam, it's DEFINITELY worth the money. I threw on the BBK twin 58mm throttle body on mine when I did my engine rebuild and it added even more power. It's pretty amazing now.

That sounds good. I think this would go well with my 3" exhaust, and I have a cam at home, but I am thinking of holding off, until I can find a better cam. Was the throttle response better with yours. It sucks, I owned a carbed V8 automatic before this car, and I just got hooked on the throttle response. Now I have this choked 3.4 manual transmission, and I am missing my throttle response. Manuals dont have that spin up in the torque convertor to help with throttle response, everything is locked in place. Thanks,

Yeah, there is definitely an increase in throttle response...you are letting a WHOLE lot more air into the engine.
