What is a good catback system i can get for under 500 dollars, not the whole "build my own" with like getting a seperate muffler and pipes and stuff. I was looking at the Magnaflow catback system, seems decent, any other suggestions???

I've listened to Edelbrock's catback system and I think it sounds great. I'll approve that one for cheap, yet great sounding.

Of course your usual Flowmaster, Dynomax, and Borla are also good as well.

one word when it comes to exhaust ....

BORLA!

Its the only way to go!! Spent the extra bucks and get it. You can even get a used one if you scour the boards for less than $500 and they have a lifetime warranty if you buy it new. Not sure if the warranty is transferrable. Never worry about your exhaust again ever. The sound is top notch, and the power it gives is better than most if not all. Of course it increases with every other mods you have too.

Any yes they make it for 4th gen 3800's.

thats weird everyone i heard who had borla got rid of it, i heard it fits ****ty in our cars too. I would never consider Borla in a million years i think they are overpriced, if i wanted to spend 700 bucks on exhaust id get gmmg not borla.

The only problem with Borla is you have to have the clamps welded not clamped. I have had NO problems with fit, and a NICE power gain from it. It sounds top notch in most gears with little to no 'popping'.

If you got money to blow, go with a borla. Otherwise, save yourself 300 bucks.

Just a questions about the after-market exhausts. Are they really loud? And do like the Flowmasters sound good on a 02 Camaro? And one have audio of a flowmaster?

I can't add much of an answer to your question, but from what I've read here it goes: (and correct me if I"m wrong, anyone...which I'm sure you will ;) )

Loud exhausts catbacks/mufflers:
Loudmouth.
Borla (heard it sounds good with Headers)
Flowmaster 80

Not sure about ravin, or spintech. I heard a clip of a ravin reminded me of a flowmaster though.

Quieter catback (at least quiet until you "get on it"):
B&B
Edlebrock (after awhile, i hear, it will quieten some)
Flowmaster 40 series (muffler) (sounds hollow on the interior, it sounded like an 80 series sound clip only quieter).
Z28 takeoff (heard a clip of it)
Dynomax

i'm missing some. NOt sure about the HOoker exhaust,
