I have the SLP LoudMouth on my '98 and I love it! It's very loud though since I don't have a cat either, but for $350 or less, it's very hard to beat. The only drawback is you have to do some slight custom work to get it to fit since it's made for the LS1. I had a dynomax on my car before the LoudMouth, and there was a definate performance increase, especially with nitrous.
You want to know what\'s on my car? Tough luck!

I can't add much of an answer to your question, but from what I've read here it goes: (and correct me if I"m wrong, anyone...which I'm sure you will ;) )

Loud exhausts catbacks/mufflers:
Loudmouth.
Borla (heard it sounds good with Headers)
Flowmaster 80

Not sure about ravin, or spintech. I heard a clip of a ravin reminded me of a flowmaster though.

Quieter catback (at least quiet until you "get on it"):
B&B
Edlebrock (after awhile, i hear, it will quieten some)
Flowmaster 40 series (muffler) (sounds hollow on the interior, it sounded like an 80 series sound clip only quieter).
Z28 takeoff (heard a clip of it)
Dynomax

i'm missing some. NOt sure about the HOoker exhaust,

dynomax are quite loud and sound like **** in my opinion. they just don't make a true sound whatsoever.

SS and WS6 take-off exhausts are about the best thing i've ever heard on our cars, honestly. then that's closely followed by edelbrock. they are both pretty loud, neither are very loud at idle though.

of course, i'm sure i am partial about the SS thing, since that's what i've got on my car. but before i got mine, i heard a friend's WS6 take-off and it sounded wonderful, and i wasn't the only one around to think so.

...a WS6 take-off will probably be cheaper than any of those others as well...if not that, then i'd go with edelbrock. if not edelbrock, then i'd sell your car, cause everything else i've heard on our cars sounds like a$$...

i hate it

i don't hate it, but i don't think it sounds good by any means. i've heard it on two different cars, with 2 different setups; one had rk headers, random tech cat, and the b&b, and the sound was "ok." the other guy had cia's, dunno for cat, and the b&b, and it sounded pretty crappy, ESPECIALLY for the money. 2 people there agreed with me too...

w00t Edelbrock in da house!

Check it...the fastest car on the board uses edelbrock...so it HAS to be the best!

(not my car, James's ;) )

I love the sound. Its somewhat quite yet deep and a little rumbly at idle...sounds like it is supposed to be on a newer car. The Flowmasters just sound like they were ripped off of a 60's muscle car.

I wouldnt buy anything else...I might change the I-pipe though, cause i was dumb and bought teh 3.8 kit which has the I pipe step down from 3" to 2.25" Just get the full 3" LT1 kit and shrink it down at the S-pipe/get a bigger S pipe if thats what you want.
