  • New manifolds go on Friday.

Manifolds from a 2002 going onto my 1996. I imagine there will be a little bump to overcome with the y-pipe but I'll post when I find out.

Just curious, what will that do exactly? I am ignorant, is the manifold on the '02 better performing?

the manifolds are what the exhaust goes through before it goes through the y pipe and through the cat and then muffler. the 2000+ have tubular manifolds which are better flowing than the prior years.
i dont know exactly how much gain one can expect by switching. other cars most likely would get headers.

good DR., please let us know what happens. i am very curious myself.
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

How much, and where did you find these?
Are they going to be a drop in type of installation, or are you gona need to do some fabracation to make them fit?

I'm hoping that everything goes smoothly... the only thing I can anticipate is the Y-pipe hanging lower because the 2000+ manifolds are longer.

I wish I could take photos, Dominic, but I think it'd be some kind of insurance liability. ;)

I dropped the car off tonight, hopefully I'll hear from him tomorrow.

AC line is in the way, might (probably) not get done today.

Anything that anyoen can tell me about the AC lines near the passenger side manifold would be helpful.

Well nevermind that idea... you never know until you try. Tubular manifolds do not fit on a 1996 car without moving AC plumbing. Project on hold indefinitely.

Wouldn't know. If you want to take pictures for me, I can tell you.

However, if I had to venture a guess, I would say that since 98 still has the old style manifolds, then the engineers wouldnt have had to re-route the AC. On the other hand, if they redesigned the AC before they went to the new manifolds in 2000, then you're in good shape. And if that's the case, it should only cost about $200 for you to install them and you can have my manifolds for $100 shipped.
