Well I have decided that i am going to buy a catback exhaust system. I dont want to spend alot. I was thinking of either the Edlebrock catback or the Flowmaster American Thunder Catback Exhaust. The Flowmaster is nice because it comes with tips. Which one do you guys think is the better of the two? are they both stainless steel? which looks and sounds the best? I assume that they both would give me the same performance gains right?
Thanks
Dan

Both Systems are made of aluminized steel, for rust resistance. BUT edelbrock's system has a life time warenty, which I assume includes rusting out. (I would check on this) The flowmaster system does include Tips though. For me personaly, I was going to buy the Flowmaster, but if the Edelbrock system's warenty inculdes Rusting out, then I'll buy that one, because I live in wisconsin, and the Camaro is my daily driver, even in winter. With only 50,000 miles on the clock, I could see needing another exahust system in the life of this car.

ok, will I just poked around Edelbrock's site some more, and I found the warenty for the RMP Series Cat Back Systems.

quote:
Edelbrock Corporation warrants all RPM Series Mufflers and Cat-Back Systems to be free from defects in material and workmanship. This warranty is extended to the original consumer/purchaser of record for the original vehicle that the product was installed on and has a limited lifetime guarantee provided that the product is properly installed, subjected to normal use and service, and is not modified or changed in any way.
This warranty does not cover any parts that are blown out by “back fire” or other faulty conditions. Damage or defects resulting from collision, improper installation, off-road use and road hazards, are not covered by this warranty. Any damage incurred to chrome plating other than defects in material and workmanship during use, is not warranted. This warranty is void if any Edelbrock RPM Muffler or Cat- Back System is used for race or competition purposes.

This leads me to think that the life I'm warenty is only covering workmenship, ect. Because of this phrase.

I would think Rust due to road salt and weather, would fall under "road hazzards." Also, if you install the system yourself, I'm sure they could argue it wasn't done the right way.
Well, I think I'll be going with the Flowmaster after all, hope this helped ya!

Does anyone have pics of the flomaster kit? I went to summit, but they didn't provide a pic. I'd like to see the tips. I'm considering a catback kit as well, and both of these are good price wise, now it's just down to appearance...
lol, yeah, I was still surfing the boards, and I've already done quite a bit of reseach on this thing. I'll be picking one up as soon as I get the 300 bucks.

Did you have the older 4" Muffler, or the newer 5" type?

This American Thunder Catback system comes with the New 5" 80 Series type Muffler.
Actualy, the guy above that was talking about the "Blowmaster." I was wondering, beside the type of muffler you had, did you have the entire catback system, or just muffler? I assume it was the whole system. From what I've found out, this system is relatively newer.
