  • Flowmaster 80 series

I have a 1996 stock 3.8 camaro. At the moment it is single piped. I want to know what the best sounding muffler for my car is. My friend has Flowmaster 80 series and it sounds pretty good. Is this the best choice for my car and if so should I take my catylac converter off or leave it on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First, welcome to the forum. Second, this is the most popular question in this section so let me see if I can help you out. Hooker, B&B, Borla, SLP, Dynomax, Corsa, Gibson, Flomax, Flowmaster, Ravin, Spintech & a dozen other companies make exhaust systems for our v6 cars. If you search all these out on the web you will find each has a following, each has its own sound & prices can run from $250-$800 for a cat-back. You will also find in this forum that about 50% of us run Flowmaster of one type or another. Flowmaster American Thunder w/ 80 series muffler & duel outlets is the most popular. It easy to find @ summitraceing.com.( They have a search to get you the right one) All others can be found by typeing the name into a serch engine. Third, as far as the cat goes, yes it is recomended to replace it with a hi-flo cat(also from summit & they can help you with the size) to get the best performance from your new exhaust, but this is up to you. Last but not least, get an intake, eather slp cold air kit or K&N cold air kit, you will want to feed the beast with lots of air.Your cost for exhaust & intake should run about $500.00. I hope I helped you out, if you have questions about products, just type them into our search above to pull up past comments. Good luck.
