  • SLP Cold Air intake install

Hi there, new poster here and just picked up a 2000 W68 Firebird. Question about the intake install. I see that I will be cutting a major plastic section out of the air box. Is it OK to do this mod and leave everything else alone? Just wondering is the increased cold air will require anything else to be upgraded. Worried about the computer acting up and the engine not knowing how to react. Thank you!

Hi, just un-hook your battery when you are installing it. This will re-set the computer and the computer will immediately take advantage of the increased air flow.

If you don't unhook the battery the computer will eventually adjust to the increased air flow but unhooking the battery will cause the computer to immediately adjust to the increased air flow.

I have seen other people say leave it un-hooked for 15 minutes or so. I just un-hooked it while I was doing the install so it was ready to go when I was done.
