• Need opinions, dynomax vs. ravin all inside please!!!

Ok I have a dynomax muffler with tails and a ravin z55 with tails chillin in my garage. Monday i'm getting 2.5in back from the cat, and another high flow on. Now i've heard both stock, and the ravin with the cutout. I've had the dynomax on my car for a year now. I know the ravin gets pretty raspy at wot, but that was with 2.25in pipe, I do like the rumble of it. The dynomax did always have a little whimp sound to it, and sounded like a honda at certain points but I wonder if it'll sound better with the 2.5in pipe and the cutout? What are your guys's takes on it? I need help.... AHHHHH

I guess i'm going with the ravin... Just kind of worried about how it will sound. Hopefully the 2.5in pipe and a new catco cat will quiet the raspiness down. I want it to sound like my walker, lol. Too bad i can't use that setup as my real setup.

        I haven't heard a dynomax unless you're talking a superturbo. I love my Ravin. So i vote that ;)

Ravenp your still around? haha nah i was reading old posts about ravins, and i saw yours and watched your clip, i thought i was like a while back though. Do you just have the muffler on your car, or is it a cat back? Because I haven't heard a clip of a ravin catback in like 2.5in pipe.

LOL, I have clips of toast with a ravin on stock system and the cutout opened. It sounds almost identical to the 3in flowmaster catback with a catco. Except the ravin doesn't get raspy as quick as the flowmaster. Flowmaster is just a **** hair deeper, i don't really see any major differences between the 2.

I have a dynomax, but its not the superturbo that everyone usually runs. I have the ultraflo welded muffler (part #17227). The only other exhaust mod that I have is a catco 3" cat, so i still have stock I-pipe and all, so I dont think that it is as deep as it could be. My friend's edelbrock catback is definately deeper, but I am still pretty happy with how mine sounds. I hope it gets as deep as his edelbrock after i get I-pipe, S-pipe and headres, but it still sounds better than the flowmasters i have heard, but never heard a ravin that i know of.

Yup, still here.. Still pushing my Ravin.

I have no new clips..i'll try and get more...

The old ones are at.. http://ravenp.kwfbody.com/summer.htm

Unfortunately i've never heard another v6 exhausted side by side so I can't compare it to others, but i do get compliments from V8 guys all the time on the sound. I love it and will buy another when this muffler goes. Might go with a z-33 though

                      ^^I'm wit stupid!

BTW, Flowmaster, Dynomax, and Edelbrock get my vote for being great exhausts on the 3.8!

Borla is OK, but for the money I'd expect a much better sound. No comment for B/B Triflo...never heard it

The Ravin as just a rear section on a stock exhaust is definately not the best there is. A friend has the American Thunder system with the built in resonator and it kicks!!!!

I take it when you guys are reffering to the ravin as sounding ricey you've heard it with just the muffler on a stock system? I completely agree with you if thats the case. I have yet to hear it on a full catback. The thing is with the cutout opened it doesn't sound half bad, almost identical to the flowmaster as I said. But the difference is i'd be putting mine on bigger pipe plus a higher flowing non catco cat. What I want to know is from anyone with experience will this give it the potential to be a better sounding muffler?
