  • SLP "Loud Mouth Exhaust" System, too loud?

    Hi,

I am new to the board as well as V6 performance but love the site and can't wait to begin mods!
I have a 94 V-6 'bird. The first mod I am considering is the exhaust, and mulling over the Loud Mouth exhaust system (cat-back) from SLP. But I am a little concerned it is too loud? Anyone out there have one installed on a like car (v6)? Does it sound very mean? Or like a tractor? I am also considering a high-flow cat like the Gatco, will that make it intolerable?

    Thanks for any help!

If you do a search under sound clip you will find one with loud mouth. I dont have it but heard it and LOVE it. Now my car is LOUD I have a 3in stainless cat back with flowmaster muffler with a cut out.

I have the loudmouth with a catco cat and a lopey cam. At idle my car sounds like a big block chevelle. It is really deep and throaty exhaust, but above 3000rpm, the v6 shows its true colors. It sounds like an angry lawnmower on crack.

The LM is very very loud at almost any rpms, but the tone changes into something ugly once you get up to higher rpms. My Borlamouth doesn't get ricey until I hit 5000, but when I just had the LM it was obnoxious past 3500, high flow cats help push the bad sound further up but they don't get rid of it.

I had the texas speed rumbler on my car for a bit and it was really loud- its pretty close to a loudmouth I assume.

I have a magnaflow which is loud when u get on it but once u get up to cruising speeds its pretty quiet.

Loudmouth on our cars is nothing compared to the volume of the v8s with it...

Thanks all for the advice/info. I think I am leaning towards the SLP but may go with a Flowmaster setup, if it is not too difficult to rig up to the V6. Just a little worried about annoying the neighbors with an ultra loud exhaust!

F the neighbors. Who cares LOL
I think you should either go with the SLP loudmouth or the Texas Rumbler. Just My opinion.

The Loudmouth is definitely about the loudest on the market. Most V6 people change the resonators to get rid of the rasp at high RPMs.

I have a Borla XR-1 bullet in place of the LM resonator and it does change the tone some (deeper) and get rid of most of the rasp but it's still loud as all hell and the interior resonance still drives me nuts!
