• Cheap fix to "drone" noise with Flows

Flowmaster exhaust is known to have a whiney noise on the freeway, and as the rpms climb. My local muffler shop (minute muffler in dublin) offered me a new resonator for 60 bux installed to rid of the noise. He was right! It got rid of the choppy noise during rev downs, and there is no more whine! I don have a way to get a sound clip up, but at least its a nice piece of advice I can give my fellow v6'ers! if you can get the clip on your computer I can host it online for you. I'm happy with my Flowmaster catback but I'd be up for hearing the difference!

Which flowmaster catback do you have and where did they install the resonater?

Hope this helps some: The American Thunder for 1998+ cars have a resonator built into it (full catback too). Haven't heard it though.

I told u guys a while back that resonators help out the sound of the flowmaster. i have resonated tips tho, so it's basically 4 4" long resonators. i still might put one in the I-pipe when I get headers, but I dunno.

I have an 80 series flowmaster muffler. I believe its the I pipe that he put the resonator in. I got it done at minute muffler in Dublin, CA. He put the resonator in the straight pipe next to the driveshaft, after the cat, before the muffler. Just got one more complement on its sound. Hehe

yea seriously, if I went to like mineke or soemthing and asked to put a resonator in my I-Pipe they'd say "sure thing" and do it. Is there a part number or anything specific to the camaro? or are they universal?

Actually, that is basically what they said when i had it done on my car 2 years ago.

I dunno the part #, but if they know theyre stuff theyre not going to tell you to stick it. It cost me 60 bux for the resonator, he had to order it. And for sure it is installed in the straight pipe, mid chassis, next to the driveshaft. :D

Try a bullet muffler for a resonator, probably the same thing. Either that or a Magnaflow Magnapack, although the bullet is cheaper.
