• I give up. Going to get it installed at a shop...

Ok ok I give up... I am so tired of the freaking clanging/hitting noise with my exhaust. I have taken that whole catback off 2 times and its still not positioned correctly- its a little off.

    I dont get it.

So... this morning I was complaining that its making a clanging noise again. My dad called while I was at work today to set up an appointment at a shop (a little car repair shop I havent been to in a while) and the guy there said he could put it on for me. I dont know what he charges per hour but I think i am gonna have to spend like 150 if its like 50 an hour-- my friend had welded all that crap on (cat/s pipe) and i just recently found the welds were leaking at the top and put something that looks like a cast to stop the leak. It worked... LOL But the main thing was the pipe hitting and making noise. I figure close to 2 hrs to get that crap off the pipe and to make it easier I am giving them some extra 3 inch pipe i bought too. LOL

Hope they dont give me crap about using an 02 sim and replacing the cat when there was nothing wrong with it.

the whole install we did was kinda ghetto anyways so i hope this guy can really do it right and not have problems. I will let you know how good of a job he did.

I did this all myself to try to save money and in the end i am spending more. I have learned my lesson...

this is the reason i dont touch exhaust. i can rebuild an engine, but i wont TOUCH exhaust. i have had way too many headaches with it. headers ill do. exhaust itself, screw it.

    hope it turns out good.

If it takes them more than 20 minutes to get ANY catback off your car at that shop, you should not be there. They likely will use a torch or plasma cutter to seperate it if it's all welded.

Oh... LOL I dont know what the guy has exactly but I sorta rigged it up pretty good so he might have problems with the thick *** welds we put on. At least i am giving him some extra pipe to work with

I will never screw with my exhaust again!!

Now i cannot wait to have them put it on and if it keeps hitting or clanging in one spot (which I think it will still do) what do I do besides shove a piece of rubber in there for cushioning? That worked til the rubber melted which was why i posted about header wrap yesterday. I figure if i wrap it with header wrap then stick that rubber hanger in there it will not rattle. It was quiet for a day til it melted and moved out of place. LOL

wow, i had that problem and adjusted it twice... went away... never heard it again. just look for the closest metel contacts to the thing and adjust them so that they arent as close. i didnt need a shop. and by adjusting i mean, the sleaves that you connect the pipes at dont fully put them on, only put them on most of the way, work with different angles over the axle etc. its a thought if you dont want to spend money... but i wouldnt take it to a shop. to much $$$
