• cone filter directly on TB?

    Would buying a K&N cone filter and fitting it directly over the end of the throttle body be a good idea for an "intake" setup? as is right now i have the Free ram air mod, raised airbox, and removed air silencer. would the filter on the TB free up a few more HP or would it not even make a difference? I'd heard about someone doing this before, but i wanted to hear peoples opinions on it.

      Since yours is a 2000+ V6, you can use the K&N AirCharger. It's basically a cone filter on the TB just a better design. More than twice the surface area of the factory air lid. It's a pain to install but I finally got mine in. It really makes a noticable difference and seems to be of high quality. It's design seems to avoid the problem a cone on the TB would have of sucking in hot engine bay air.

            Would a heat extractor hood like the raptor take care of that?

We have tested it time and time again on the dyno, V6 and LS1's alike have shown the same results. We have seen as much as 10rwhp gains over the K&N FIPK for the LS1 (used on a V6 car) by swapping to a lid. You would think that kit would perform well on the dyno of all places where you have a fan cramming air into the filter, but nope

I was going to "upgrade" to the aircharger kit for the 3800 because it looked the most free-flowing.

                  you are talking about this, right?

                    </font>
Yes, that's what I have, the AirCharger. The pictured one you linked to is actually for the LS1 but very similar. Only difference is the tube connecting the filter to the TB. I love mine.
