After sitting here doing some searching, I just wanted to make sure of a couple of things. I'm about to go to a couple of places to see about replacing the cat [it is indeed shot]. My exhaust is totally stock and my car is a MY 2000.
I wanted to make sure I understand this correctly...
-A universal style cat will weld up to my car properly and costs about $50-60 [not retail]
-A muffler shop will charge me about $50 to weld it on
-My oxygen sensors do not need to be replaced, since my mileage is fine and I have no SES light.
Am I about right on this? Do the O2 sensors need to be reinstalled in the new cat? Just making sure what I'm getting into here financially. If I can get out from under this mess reliably [not throwing codes] for $200 I'll be happy.
Unfortunately, the car has a water damage branding on the title, which disqualifies it from warranty coverage. Thanks for your replies. As you can tell, I'm a little nervous about this...
