  • Smells like hot metal

I've been noticing lately that after driving my car for a while (ever since I got my Dynomouth) and park it the car smells like hot metal. Maybe some crappy welds the shop did? I had them weld the catback.. Or maybe something else? Anyone have any ideas?

Don't hear any leaking do you? or see any burn marks anywhere on your exhaust track? Could also just be more emissions getting through and your just smelling it. Also may want to find people with the same muffler as you and see if thats a common occurance. You have a cat? or just bullet and pipes? Also make sure you don't heat your crack spoon while driving. That will cut down on the burning metal smell.

its a 3" SLP Loudmouth catback with a Dynomax Race Bullet in place of the stock SLP resonator. It sounds f'n mean -- but for some reason smells like hot metal after its been run for a while. I'll figure it out. From the cat forward its all stock. When I get my headers and high flow cat I'll have the guys take a look at see if they cant figure it out for me.

Maybe nothing to do w/ your exhaust at all.. thought of hot brakes? Maybe a brake is dragging slightly or your pads are shot in the front or back...
