• Ok so i finally got it installed... (my exhaust isnt clunking now)

I finally took my exhaust to a little garage yesterday and they reinstalled it and adjusted it...

They said it was too long (umm how???) and cut off a section of it... then they added a hanger in the rear, lifted the i pipe up a bit (more clearance YAY) but the only thing is they clamped it on and I am a little disappointed because I wanted them to just weld it but they didnt have a welder... ugh... i gave them band clamps (and extra pipe cause i wanted them to take the cat off and re weld but oh well)--they didnt use anything i gave him.

I even drove over railroad tracks and heard nothing. whooo hoooooo!!!!!

I did hear a little tiny thump over one large bump (which they said i might hear just a little) but its TONS better now. I am going to wrap one area with header wrap so its not going to hit bare metal when it does touch.

at least this is all out of the way- next thing are get my amp rack installed and new headlights (brighter bulbs and new housing).

I just wish they welded it because clamps sorta bother me because i know its easier for them to come loose.

As long as you are using band clamps, they should be O.K. Way way better than the old style clamps and shouldn't be a problem. Just check them out once in awhile.

I have no idea what they are doing without a welder!!!! They ended up heating one part of the pipe and denting it in for me and it doesnt hit as much... a little tho but its not really noticable (but i drove with the radio off so i could listen)...

But, I will be checking the clamps once a week (real short ride to work everyday). I dont like u bolt clamps at all so i use band clamps as much as I can.

you could probably go to a muffler shop and they could weld things up real cheap

There is a place the next town over that does welding because I asked before but I would need an appointment- no biggie.

How long will the clamps hold up though?

clamps 'should' hold up as long as the life of the exhaust. your right, I prefer the band clamps to the other style, but its not biggie. mine are clamped at the rear of the exhaust with the old style and then tack welded. I used band clamps before and after the cat, cause I dont want that to be, ahem.... permanent. make that appointment and have that shop weld everything up now that it is adjusted right. shouldnt cost very much at all.
