  • Exhaust, Manifolds versus headers....

I maybe purchasing another camaro v6 to play with soon......

I am looking for opinions on a catback that will compromise both having stock manifolds now and headers later so that I only have to do the catback once.....

Right now the choices I have access to are the following.......

    Magnaflow 3 inch catback
    Loudmouth 3 inch catback
    Borla 3 inch catback

If there are other types that you recommend please post.....

Um catbacks only go from the cat back, they don't even touch your exhaust manifolds or aftermarker headers... Any V8 exhaust system will work as long as you buy an s-pipe to connect it to the cat, or you can have your exhaust shop make you one for hardly nothing extra. I'd recommend getting a high flow cat now while you're at it for an even louder/deeper exhaust note. That way when you get your new headers (most come with a y-pipe) you can just weld it up to the new cat and be done with your exhaust!

What I mean by working with both systems is how much louder and different tone will be adding headers and a y-pipe....thats why I am looking for the best that compliment both the stock manifold setup and a header/ORP combo so I only have to buy one catback..........

I'm happy w/ my setup of RKSports, 3" catco, 3" flowmaster catback.

Of the one's mentioned I think magnaflow is comparable to flowmaster.

Loudmouth I do not like the sound of WOT. ;)

I would go with the Borla the one I heard sounded amazing and that was just the catback, headers change the tone of the exhaust for the better IMO.

            Hey Nachius.......

havent talked to you in awhile...How's things? I am getting back into the v6 game so I am picking parts up before I purchase the v6 on the 3rd...

I actually narrowed my choices to magnaflow and borla because I have access to them now.

Personally, I wish ZZP would make some ported & coated stock manifolds like they do for the Grand Prixs. You'd get the benefits of porting and coating without the potential problems with leaking I've heard so much about.

Speaking of Borla exhausts, get this....not long ago I came across a PINK 4-door Cadillac with a giant Borla sticker on the back window. I looked down, and sure enough it had dual/ dual intercooled tips on it....you'd just have to see it to truly appreciate how funny it looked...

I'm VERY happy with my pacesetter's, 3" carsound, 2.5" dynomax super turbo with all 3" piping. Damn thing almost sounds turboed most of the time. However I wouldn't be happy performance wise witout the precat cutout ready for opening at any time ;)

hey man, 2wice here. the borla would be a good choice if you can afford it. i always liked the sound of it on a v6 but haven't ridden in a v6 borla equipped catr, only heard one at a dealership. if you want a chep alternative that will actually give you a great SOTP gain as well as not get raspy THROUGHOUT THE RPM RANGE, then i say go with the Rumbler. im very happy with mine. as of right now the count stands at 4 v8 guys who have said it sounds like an 8, and sounds real good even at 4500 rpm in neutral. so if you want a good sound and performance gain then the Rumbler would have to be the way to go
