  • Dynomax mufflers?

Anyone know much about Dynomax mufflers? I recently took my car to a muffler shop and they recommended it for my car. He said he would install the muffler and make it a dual out for $110. Is it worth it? Will I notice anything? I'm wondering this because I was wanting a Flowmaster 80 series and I know the muffler alone is $90. So what's up with Dynomax?

Dynomax kicks *** . $110 sounds pretty good too, I don't suppose tips are included?

Honestly, I don't remember what the $110 included. I keep reading on here about people changing their I-Pipes and buying them for around $100. But how much could a muffler shop just fab one for? Surely it would be cheaper? I read on Dynomax where it can give you 11 horsepower. What would the Flowmaster give?

11 hp is a bit high, i don't really know how many it'll give but it's not going to be that high. $110 is pretty good for just muffler and install, muffler is about $50 then $60 for install is around average. you won't regret going dynomax, i love mine.

What about the I-Pipe? If I'm reading all the archives right, an exhaust system contains a I-Pipe, the muffler, and exhaust pipes, is this right? The dynomax 3" I-Pipe is $98. Could a muffler shop make it for cheaper than that?

a muffler shop might be able to make an i pipe, i'm not sure tho, wouldn't be mandrel bent i wouldn't think. easier way would be to try and get your hands on a stock v8 i pipe, much cheaper that way.

Hacker: buy the i-pipe too. The dynomax would be the more quality piece, but if a shop will make one for cheaper, go for it.

Yea I love my dynomax, it has a nice, mellow tone, and not ricey through high RPM's. I had flowmaster on my car, it had a bad a$$ idle to it, but acceleration at low and righ RPM's, MASSIVE RICE! You'll love your dynomax, good pick, trust me

So if I go with a Dynomax Super Turbo, I believe those don't come with tail pipes, any suggestions? Also, I guess I'll call around for a Z-28 I-pipe. What I was wondering is what should I get, 2.5" or 3" With my V-6 I'm thinking 2.5", any suggestions? Or what is the size of the Z-28?

The Z28/TA pipe is 2.75". That's your cheapest route. I got mine off a guy at no charge from a local fbody board in my area. You might wanna try that route or try the junkyard. Anything 93+ will fit with the exception of hangers.

I would go with a 3" I-Pipe and a high-flow cat. Had my new exhaust installed over the weekend and it came to a total of $160. 100 for the install and 50 for a 3" S-Pipe and the tailpipes. 3" I-Pipe is 100 and a cat is about 50.

Looking at this money wise. It seems to me if I find an old Z-28 2.75" pipe it's not gonna be anymore than $20 and probably less. A new 3" is $100. So is .25" and a actual new pipe worth that much more money?
