    If a dual exhaust is really expencise on our cars, What is the next best opption?

      I did a search some time ago and a few people agreed that true dual, at least on the 3.4, sounded terrible and actually lost power. Has anyone else done this, or done this with a 3.8?
      I mean, how deep can a 6 cylinder sound with true dual.

        From what I've heard it's mostly just a waste for a V6 unless you're moving ALOT of air. Remember that you need some backpressure to give you power off the line.

            most of the guys with 8s don't even get 3" true duals because its too much. usually about a 2.5" pipe. so on a 6 i would say 2 1/4" would be good for the duals

              2 1/4" duals will flow the same as a 3" single. it'll sound deeper maybe cuz of the 2 mufflers and the 2 pipes. make sure u use an x-pipe crossover after the cats so u can balance pressure between the 2 pipes and make optimal hp. also, mke it sound cool by using resonated tips. I love mine. they make is sound really good.

                a friend of mine has the hooker headers to 3" pipe, custom x-pipe, two dynomax super turbo mufflers then turn downs right before the axle on his TA... the exhaust after headers was $515, it sounds badass... and is loud as hell, he saw a gain of 18hp & 14trq at the rear wheels over the hooker headers and slp loudmouth... i want it... hope that helps...

                  Just a question, how would you get a 18rwhp gain over a loudmouth (with NO muffler) on a v-8. Are you saying 18hp gain with true dual exhaust (w/ mufflers) over loudmouth (w/ no true dual). That i could maybe understand. Just a little unclear.

                    scavenging is a wonderful thing...

                    gains are seen from the x-pipe generally, it creates a vacuum effect that sucks air out of the other pipe.

                    look on v8 sites for more info, don't expect to get a lot of love here.

                      True duals can be done but it is not suggested for a N/A v6. I came up with an i dea at work on how i can comstom fabracate true duals on the f-body. If you want your car really loud, true duals are the answer. I belevie an H-pipe will work alot better than an X-pipe.

How does it sound at WOT under load? kmook on CamaroZ28.com has true duals on his LT1, and he says it has a higher pitch to it.

                          That is way wrong! X pipe will ALWAYS produce more power across a powerband than an H pipe. Why? With an H, the exhaust travels through two 90* bends, while an X setup has 45* bends. H pipe is only louder than an X. Not more power.

                            On the X-pipe vs H-pipe setups I saw a review of both on Stangnet.com and they both produced exactly the same hp/tq. They didn't sound different either. *shrugs* Maybe it's different for f-bodies, I dunno. I'll try and find that link again and post it when I can.

                              Arggggg, the exhaust does not travel through the 90degree bends, it just goes past them. On an X-pipe the exhaust flow crosses with each other which in turn can cause a restriction espally at WOT. Plus an X-pipe does make the exahust have a higher pich tone then an H-pipe.
