  • Flowmaster 40 series

Well, after going around and shopping for an exhaust system I finally got an exhaust for my 99 camaro. It's a flowmaster 40 series with duel/duel tips on each side. It's sound pritty good, not as loud as I thought it will but it's pritty good. I paid $453.99 for the exhaust with steinless steel tips and installation.

After a few weeks it will sound deeper. Mine sounded pretty good when I first got it. After about 2 or 3 weeks it sounded deeper and louder.

dayem bro, i hope it was the whole cat-back system and not just the muffler and tips for 450. but the 40 does sound better with time. i've had mine for 3 months, and sounds pretty deep now. i also installed a cold air intake, so that probably helped too.
i also havnt noticed any of the rasp or pop that some of the people with the 80 series have talked about. mine sounds great at both low and high rpms.

How are all these people getting the 40's with dual tips?!? I got stuck with the 80 because i wanted duals and i was told the 40's only come single outlet. (The 80's sound horrible by the way)

not all muffler shops are created equal. i asked around, and several shops said 80 was my only option, but i found a guy who said 40s could have duals and any muffler guy who said they couldnt was an idiot.

There are different versions of the 40 series mufflers. One of them comes with dual outlets, therefore dual tips

I like my 40 series, I just had it installed 3 days ago, love it, I would mind if it was a little more loud but I am not complaning, plus I love the steinless steel tips, dues on both sides. It looks awesome

I don't know, they say 80 series sounds better on v6 but, 40 series sounds awesome too, if you ask me. It's not very loud, but it sure turns heads and people know when you are coming. Go with 40 series.

40 definately. I couldnt be more insulted with my 80. It sounds like a rice rocket. I have a friend with a 40 and it sounds wonderful for a v6.

i've heard the 80s on a few v6 camaros, and they do sound better at idle then my 40, but once they step on the gas it popped and had more of a hollow sound then my 40. i could see how one could get annoyed by there sound after a while. so in my opinion the 80s are louder but the 40s sound better, but are still pretty loud when u accelerate.
does anyone know if a free flowing cat would improve my camaro's idle sound?
