How many of you guys found it a nightmare to aquire these headers?
I ordered my pacesetter headers from a local speedshop and paid them about $500 up front. They said it would be in about three to four weeks. I checked back in four weeks because I didn't get a phone call yet and the guy said he ordered it a while ago, so he gave me the number to pacesetter.
I called pacesetter, and they said they were on back order and had to be made because I wanted them coated. Another three weeks pass and I call them again. They said they haven't been made yet but they'll put a rush order in. Meanwhile I keep getting the same rep on the phone that doesn't speak English. Finally, I receive my box at the speed shop. I opened the box and the idiots sent me one header. I was like "Oh yeah, one header, that's gread." I called them up again, and wouldn't you know, I get the same non-english speaking idiot on the phone. Long story short, theys sent the other side three more weeks later.
Putting them on went along pretty smoothly. After cut up hands, a damaged air box and a lot of frustration, they were finally in.
Another problem, probably the same idiot on the phone made the parts himself. Anyway, The joint on my steering before the gear box was hitting my headers when I turned the wheel. So I had to put a dent in the headers, being careful not to put a hole in there, so I could turn freely.
The sound is awesome. I later had the y pipe totally welded to the cat because I used a muffler clamp as a temp fix. The headers are leaking a little I'm going to go ahead and tighten them up a little.
I'm not sure how much hp I got from the headers and Y pipe, but it sure feels like the car woke up.
Was is worth the trouble, yes. I just think pacesetter needs to do some hiring and firing before I order anything from them or recommend them to someone else again.
