Probably a pretty typical situation here, but Im working on a $6/hr budget, and I'm going to make exhaust my first mod. I'd like to do it in pieces, regardless of a whole cat-back probably being cheaper in the long run. Just one piece at a time..somewhat custom, rather than a kit. What muffler will give me the most agressive (scary if possible) tone on stock pipes (until I get an over pipe and I-pipe, etc.)? I appreciate the help as always. Thanks.

Do what I did. Got my 02 Z28 catback for a grand total of $100 with only 200 miles on it, and had it installed by Nick's of Plano for $150. New catback and installation for $250. BTW, a college budget isn't much better LOL, so I'm in the same boat.

If you need budget, ive decided im doing 3" piping all the way back when I do my headers right after X-mas. My flowmaster cat back is only about 6 months old. You can have it for 100 and I'll do the install for you.

That is a great deal and I appreciate you extending such a wonderful offer. I'd be glad to buy it off you if you're willing to do sell it to me. How much would you like for the install?

nothing... buy a new set of exhaust clamps and give me a hand when we do it. Its got 12" slash tips on it, but I bottomed out like a month after I put the system on, so the left tip has just a little rash on it, but not bad. So save your money to buy a new set of tips if you want something fancier or do something else to your car.
I plan on doing mine around X-mas or early January if that works for you.

Sounds great to me :). Just let me know around then, when you are ready to do the install. Are the outlets 2 1/2"? Just wondering because of the tips.

A board member on LS1.com. Just search in the for sale forums on LS1.com or CamaroZ28 and put up a post wanting a Z28 catback. You can get one no problem for under $100 in good condition. There are plenty out there.

can you go from a 3" pipe to a 2.25" inlet?

Heres what I got for 200 bucks:

Catback custom made pipes, 3", all the way back to a flowmaster 80 Series muffler (3" inlet, dual 2.5" outlets), installed.

Eventually I added 3" pipe from the Y, and replaced the cat with an electric cutout. :D
