Don't take those out.... IIRC, there are two threaded studs on each side. Keep them in and reuse the nuts. The studs will help hold and line up the headers during the install.

You sure? It seems like the manifold is impossible to take out without taking those out.

That's how I installed mine.... then again, I had tubular manifolds. They were really easy to pull out. [img]graemlins/stickpoke.gif[/img]

Get those heat shields off of there and you'll have about another 1/2" of room to play with, IIRC. ;)

I do remember them being a PITA getting them off my 96 Firebird. :mad:

Agreed, removing the heat shields make things ALOT easier! And I soaked all of my bolts for a day before I swapped my headers in, and the studs were easy to remove.

I used a strong pair of vice grips to get mine off.....just keep hackin away and they will come off. BTW....they unscrew.

Finished the install.
I just reused the studs for now. I will find a way to remove them soemday.
Open headers sounds awesome! I have been driving it with open headers and people thinks that theres a big V8 motor under the hood. Its good that I havent got pulled over for it yet. [img]tongue.gif[/img]
