straight pipe no cat!!!!

Hey guys earlier I posted that I was gonna gut my cat and put it back on. I changed my mid and just put a piece of 2.5in. straight pipe in its place. It sounds pretty good especially in low RPM's and at idle. It feels like I gained some hp especially in teh Higher RPM range. Though, it feels I lost a lil TQ. Could this be accurate to do loss of back pressure, or is the TQ still there but jsut got added power?

Its your seat of the pants dyno. Moved the powerband up is all.

Reducing backpressure will never reduce HP or torque. However, reducing exhaust gas velocity certainly will.

Since you have just replaced the cat with a straight pipe you haven't done anything to reduce exhaust gas velocity so your seat of the pants dyno is just off. You haven't lost power or torque.

Yeah, if anything it might of moved the torque in up the rpm range a little bit, where its less of a kick back into the seat kind of feeling.
