ok I got my pacesetters on the car but I could not get the stock cat off the old y pipe. I cut the clamp holding it on but it will still not move. also part of the clamp will not come off, was it tack wielded at the factory or is this just a lot of rust causing this. help me please! an open y pipe is LOUD and I go to work at 5am and the neighbors are starting to get pissed lol. and it will probibly be 2 weeks before i have the money to put the catback and new cat on.

try soaking it with WD40. Waite a few mins and then try. If that doesn't work try tapping all the way around the clap to try to fee it up. If that still doesn't work look for a tack weld and if there is one try to cut it. If none of that works and if you can try heating it up with a torch and see what happens.2002 Firebird
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2106142/1

"I cut the clamp holding it on but it will still not move."
I had the same problem. First, I "tapped" all around the clamp with an air hammer to break the rust. Then, at the other end of the cat, I beat the bejesus out of cat with the air hammer (hitting the cat so it would pull away from the clamp). This was enough to break the rust bond. Then I had to muscle the cat out. Half a can of PB Blaster helps too.

mine took some persuasian but I got it off...
my experience has been moving it in a "circular" motion as you pull it comes off more easily.
