• quick question on SLP CAI install

This is probably a stupid question but... I just got it today and am going to install it tomorrow after work. This is for the 95-97 3.8. Which side of the rubber elbow connects to the throttle body? The oval inlet side or the more round side? The ovalish inlet side is the side with the sensor in it.

    Thanks a lot guys

there is a little rubber thing that sticks out of the elbow in the center of the radius. that rubber nipple thing should point down when installed.

He is right, it has been so long since I put mine in I don't remeber it having different ends but if it does I would say oval to the tb.

Hey guys thanks I got it. It went pretty smoothly. My father and I took our time installing and it took us an hour and a half. Everything went pretty smoothly. We put the filters on from underneath. We just loosened the splash guard instead of taking the whole guard off and we took the front tire of and it was real easy after that. We could have done it without taking the front tire off but it made it so much easier so we did it.

It sounds real nice, not sure how much deeper the exhaust is but the intake sounds pretty sweet. It gets quiet after the car is running for about 5 min but I can still notice it a little when I let off the throttle but it is hard to hear over the exhaust. I only notice it cause it is a new sound. My friend said he couldn't tell cause he didn't remember what my engine sounded like naturally so he couldn't tell which sound was the intake, and it is probably harder to hear from the passengers seat. It is a very quiet whistle/sucking sound, but its good. If my exhaust were even just a little bit louder I probably wouldn't hear it at all.

There is only one thing I am worried about. The IAT sensor wires are extremely tight because of the stretch they had to make to get over to the new sensor position, and now the plastic covering around the sensor's wires is sitting right on the intake manifold instead of being held on the metal plate that they were in before, I hope that the plastic won't melt, so I am going to keep an eye on that. I would like to relieve some of that tension thats on those wires but I'll see what I can do.

          Other than that... it's great!

Just cut the tape covering the IAT wire a little bit; Then you'll have enough slack.
