mine helps...most will say they dont work but i know mine helped, course i have a flowmaster muffler, the 80 series flowmaster isnt known for making horsepower...my buddies formula picked up 19 RWHP from uncapping his cutout right before the muffler
i personally don't have a cutout yet..will in the spring...but i've seen a few friends of mine on the dyno & when they uncapped their cutouts they typically picked up between 5-15 rwhp
Cutouts are pretty cool. I have an electric one myself on my TA. I love the sound. As for performance, a good catback can match it. I dynoed it with it open/closed with the tune (open first) and I only lost 2 hp and about 3 tq which could have even been from the car being hotter from back to back runs. But I have a Hooker cat back which is pretty high flowing.
I'd say get one cause it can't hurt, plus the sound is great .
I've always been faster at the track w/ the cutout open or running open y-pipe.

Get an electronic one cus the manuals are a PITA. It sounds kickass and they say that it frees up some hp, dyno tests have been inconclusive. Whehn 12sec did it (I think it was him) he lost like 3-4 hp and gained some torque. Go figure get it theyr cheap.
its impossibly to say how much you can gain from a cutout, it will vary from car to car. And yea the electric ones are cool as hell ;) had one on my bird before I got the SS.

So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
