  • Problem With Free Ram Air

Hasnt anyone else seen this problem... the metal edges around the holes I cut for my ram air are starting to rust. Just barely but I can tell. On the site where it explains how to do this, the guy put tape around it, but I guarantee it will still rust. Maybe thats why nobody noticed. I completely didnt even think about that when I did it. :( What can I put on it to prevent this? Thanks for any ideas.

unless you care about appearance of ram air.. who cares? as long as its not to the point of corroding. but just the edges.. *shrug*

But won't it get to that point if you let it go?

They're not talking about the under-hood ram air kits (like FTRA or SSRA). They're talking about cutting holes in their Firebird hoods.

after you cut hole in car metal....prep it, prime it,
                seal it, paint it.

what he said. Basically you are going to have to file away all the rust that has started (and i mean all of it, every little bit) and do as grayman told you.

just a shot in the dark but does anyone think clear nail polish would stop it?

TRY LEMON JUICE!! any kind of natural lemon juice will eat away at rust.
                      you gotta scrub it

having it is kinda the whole point of the intake system. i thought it gave you the chance to purchase the ASSRA piece with it
