  • From K&N FIPK back to lid???

i have pacesetters, 3 inch cat back, 3 inch cat, and FIPK kit, if anyone knows thats no lid, just tupe then air filter. well im not getting enough air or backpressure , my car is set up (exhast wise) for a supercharger or some type of power adder. my car at this point cant cruise on the free way in 5th and pull at 65 up a small hill, not even at 80, so i ordered a new lid, used "stock mounting tray", air filter, and slp ram air set up. what do you think? wise idea to gain alittle bit more horsepower

Why do you think you're not getting enough air? A filter directly on the TB should provide more than enough airflow, unless it's solid with dirt or something.

What does it do? I think I'd be looking for other problems.

no no no, i think im getting ttooooo much, but like, not enough back pressure, putting a lid on might restrict alittle to give it alittle bit more tq.

You can't have too much air flow into an engine. The throttle controls the amount of air going into the engine itself. Too much would mean then engine would rev itself to death, and that's why the throttle is there....to restrict it.

Disregarding any dirt, you can safely run an engine with no air filter at all. The only difference may be a slight increase of power if the old filter was dirty.

what im getting at is that off the line i have no torque, i always have to be at 3 thousand, under that it sucks, i noticed back with my lid my car was quicker

having the lid directs air, with the fipk kit, there is just air flowing all around the engine bay wich causes warm air also to enter. with thelid i can direct cool air, ive had the lid before, and im getting it back again, its better

Larger exausts move your hp and torque up the powerband. That's where you are seeing it now. The smaller pipe gave you tourque at lower revs, but killed it up the powerband.

YES, thats awesome u know exactly what im talkin about, today actually, i almost wanted to just pull over and leave my car. since i got my 295/35/18 rear i havnt tried a burn out cus i dont got the money for the tires. but i thought hell i got the headers on, lets go have some fun...... with no water on my tires, i couldnt break them lose. i was sooo mad, i have no low end torque, so i figure the lid with ram air should equal it out some what. today my car was pullin alittle more at high end tho, i was surpised, plus it got louder then ever...
