Well, about a week ago I started getting a slight rattling noise under my car, which sounds like the heat shield on the cat. It's only minor, so I haven't really checked it out. Well, two days ago I was drivin down the freeway and I heard a loud banging which sounded like I ran over a little piece of metal or something on the road, but neither myself, nor the other two people in my car saw anything in the road, which I'm afraid might have been something underneath my car. Well, now, a day after that happened, my SES light is coming on. The slight rattling noise is still there.
My only guess is that somehow the heatshield came loose and something came off and screwed up the O2 sensors, at least that's my guess. Sad thing is that a day before the SES light came on, my warranty expired, lol. Is there any way I can check the O2 sensors without taking off my cat or whatever? I'm not too familiar with O2 sensor stuff.
Or does anyone have any other suggestions as to what might be setting it off?
(no it's not my IAT/MAF, heh... that always seemed to be what used to set off my SES, when I'd take off my airbox and forget to re-attach the wires lol)
....if it is the O2 sensors, and I don't bother fixing them now, will it make my car run lean/rich?
