  • super 40 or american thunder?

im looking for a new exhaust. i know that the american thunder isnt the loudest exhaust out there so i was thinking about buying a super 40 muffler and then taking it to a muffler shop and having them run piping for me. anyone have any suggestions on which would be my best option for sounds and performance?

personally, i'd go with an slp lm2, in my opinion the best sounding exhaust for the v6..loud and pretty smooth with little rasp.. but read and listen to the exhaust set ups on the forum, and see which one you like best...

I have a super 40 with delta flow technology and I have people really fooled that I have a v8, when I only have a 3.4 v6, not the greatest exhaust but I am pour and a super 40 is like 50 bucks for the muffler and then you just have to find a way to mount it. I am only using 2.5 inch piping with stock manifolds and no cats stock engine no real engine work done.

sound clip here, and hope you have a good sub http://media.putfile.com/Loud-3adot4L

That sounds really good. But I'm wondering how much of that is because you're running no cats. I don't think it would sound as good on mine with my high flow cat. BUt the 40's do sound good. I plan to get a bullet in mid pipe and get an 80 or 40 muffler.

P.S. I live in CA, running no cats is not an option.

How would that sound with my 3.8? from what ive heard the 3.4 has a better sound. my other problem is that i want dual exhaust like i have now. the american thunder gives me that but im not sure if i can do that with the super 40. im looking for good performance out of it too. popular hottrodding claimed they gained 11 hp at the wheels when they dynoed it with just the cat-back yet people on hear seem to bash it alot. whos right?

11 hp gain from American Thunder, or from Super 40? I've heard some bash American Thunder, but not 40.

for the american thunder setup. i constantly hear people bashing it. from what i can see not too many people have gone the 40 series with custom exhaust.

heres the link to the article where they claimed they got 11 hp at the wheels

I had the guy at thr muffler shop put on a used Flowmaster dual out. How can I tell what model it is? He did the install plus tips for $100. I love it but dont know what it is.

Hmmm, unless it's marked somehow, the only way to find out is to ask the guy that put it on. If he didn't know....then the world may never know....muhahahah
