it can work just as good if you do it right and get the air pulled in from a good spot.
They dont make cold air. their susposed to pull in more because its just a pipe and a filter.. they actually do help. and their not all that bad. Ebay had some K&N's pretty cheap a while back. I got mine from their but anyway, they usually sit where your stock filter was or they tell you to put it down toward the bottom of the car. but where your stock air box sits the factory finds some place to run some plastic that lets air outside hit the inside of the box.. but with a CAI air gets pulled in from where ever it can. expect maybe a 5-10 hp gain.

ok, um...
well,
He is kinda on the mark with suggesting you do some specific searches on this topic. It is more to relieve the serever from logging and tracking post and threads if they have already been covered. It is more of a responsible posting issue than anything personal.
Check out my site. I have detailed some of the more basic mods such as intake.
I don't feel like clicking on your ID to find out what year car you have...my site is taylored to 99+ cars but it may still help you.
After that, from searching, you will find some of the pics and websites of other members and what they have done.
Yes, you can do some intake stuff yourself and improve what was stock.
Good luck with the ride. G.
