I agree with the above post 100%, being a Dynomax owner, but I MUST SAY that NOTHING beats Flowmasters on a 3.8L when you're in idle. So if you're looking to demo your car just in neutral, get this. However if you want to sacrifice a quieter idle for an overall better sound, choose Dynomax.

You can always get a cutout to get that awesome loud idle. That is what i am gonna do when i get my dynomax. The best of both worlds. :D

All these people with diff oppinions... But so many people doing different things also. Flowmaster cat-backs for the V6 cars only come with 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 I pipes. Get the 80 series muffler, 3 inch I pipe, get rid of the cat if u can get by in your state w/o one(i can, its gonna be gone faster than u can imagine), and headers if help take riceness out up high. Most people get the ricey sound cus of small I pipe diameter and/or a restricetive cat. And from what ive been told mandrell pipes help a bit too.

I have 2 friends with v/6 with flowmasters('95 & "98). They both only have the muffler. Lotsa ppl do that and thats wayyyyy ricey above 3500-4000.

Ive researced his stuff for the past month or so deciding what to get.... IM ordering within the next few weeks. Seems from hearsay, testing, talking to ppl at companies and owners of the stuff the best route with flowmasters is:
3 in pipe from Y-pipe back to muffler, O2 sim, no cat, flowmaster 80 series and headers if u got the $$(not for me..... yet)

theres my 2 cents and then some...

The Dynomax race-welded muffler out-flows almost every other muffler out there period. All the muffler is is a 3" y-pipe with fiberglass around it to muffle the sound.Flowmasters don't flow very well at all.Granted they may sound good but they don't flow much better than a stock Z or TA muffler.Be warned,if you get a Dynomax they are QUIET.They sound very mellow and deep but there isn't much volume there. My Z sounds almost like stock.Maybe some of you guys should try the Dynomouth off of LS1.com.All they did was cut off the muffler and used a Y-pipe to make it have dual tips. Then they welded a 16" Magnaflow bullet muffler in the intermediate pipe. It's sort of like a cheap Loudmouth with a more mellow tone.Good luck guys!
